Teaching: Since 1979 I have been working more than half time, on average, with teaching duties on the undergraduate and graduate levels. These duties range from lessons, lectures and tuition to examination and administration. The courses range from introductory courses with many (100-200) students to advanced courses with few (5-25) students and project courses for small groups of students. The topics included are linear, nonlinear, discrete, network and combinatorial optimization, dynamic programming and large scale optimization. I have also supervised or examined many bachelor's or master's thesis projects.

Administration: Director of studies for the division of Optimization during the years 2008 to 2011 and also for the divisions of Mathematical Statistics and Computational Mathematics during the years 2009 to 2011. Member of the board of the Department of Mathematics from 1980 to 1984, from 2009 to 2014, and from 2021 to 2023. Member of the board for Sveriges Ingenjörer (Swedish Association of Graduate Engineers) at Linköping University from 2011 to present. Substitute member of the board of Saco-S (Swedish Confederation of Professional Associations) at Linköping University in 2017 and member of the board from 2018.

Commercialization of research: Co-founder, together with Elina Rönnberg, of the company Schemagi AB. It was established in 2010 and I was a member of its board from 2010 to 2016.
